It is with the greatest shock and sadness that we have to report that Richard Ritchie unexpectedly passed away in his sleep some two weeks ago. Richard, who was called to the Bar in 1978, did his pupillage in Chambers and had been a loyal and much valued member ever since; a period of over 40 years. A stalwart of the Chancery Bar, formerly Chancery Junior Counsel to the Crown and for many years Standing Counsel to the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills on insolvency matters, his keen intellect, sparkling, dry humour and disarming charm were hugely appreciated by his colleagues in Chambers and elsewhere, and by his many clients.
He will be greatly missed by us all. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife, Susan, and his family at this very sad time.
